History of TNOiK

Scientific Society for Organization and Management was established in April 1925 as the Institute of Scientific Organisation - one of the first management associations in the world. Its founder, Professor Karol Adamiecki was the pioneer of the theory of organisation, creator of the harmony theory and also, together with H. Hoover and T. Masaryk, the cofounder of World Management Council (CIOS). Statutory activity of the Institute included training, scientific research and publishing.

In June 1933 the organisation obtained legal personality and changed its name to the Scientific Institute for Organization and Management. The institute had operated till September 1939 - the outbreak of World War II.

In the first quarter of 1945 the Institute resumed activity and continued realisation of its basic aims. In 1948 a new charter was registered and the name of organisation was changed to the Scientific Society for Organization and Management. After a few years break, due to political conditions, in 1957 the activity of Society was resumed again.

In 1968 essential changes in the charter connected with recruitment of new members and formation of new authorities were made, which influenced openness of the Society. Training activity was stimulated as well. In the second part of seventies activists put an emphasis on quantitative development of the Society, which resulted in changes of its character.

Since 1981 the Society joined social and economical transformation of Poland, taking up activity in organisational consulting again.

In the 80's economic transformation process and prospects of integration with European Union created new opportunities of development for the Society.
