Scientific
Society for Organization and Management was established in April 1925 as the
Institute of Scientific Organisation - one of the first management associations
in the world. Its founder, Professor Karol Adamiecki was the pioneer of the
theory of organisation, creator of the harmony theory and also, together with H.
Hoover and T. Masaryk, the cofounder of World Management Council (CIOS).
Statutory activity of the Institute included training, scientific research and
publishing.

In June 1933
the organisation obtained legal personality and changed its name to the
Scientific Institute for Organization and Management. The institute had operated
till September 1939 - the outbreak of World War II.

In the first
quarter of 1945 the Institute resumed activity and continued realisation of its
basic aims. In 1948 a new charter was registered and the name of organisation
was changed to the Scientific Society for Organization and Management. After a
few years break, due to political conditions, in 1957 the activity of Society
was resumed again.

In 1968
essential changes in the charter connected with recruitment of new members and
formation of new authorities were made, which influenced openness of the Society.
Training activity was stimulated as well. In the second part of seventies
activists put an emphasis on quantitative development of the Society, which
resulted in changes of its character.

Since 1981 the
Society joined social and economical transformation of Poland, taking up
activity in organisational consulting again.

|
In the 80's
economic transformation process and prospects of integration with European Union
created new opportunities of development for the Society.
